Description: Come be a part of a collaborative, perfomative and participatory skating event based on the book of poems about ice, serpentine loop by Elee Kraljii Gardiner. Before getting on the ice at 10pm, there will be a ten minute reading and a short off ice talk by professional skaters Elin Schran and Douglas Webster. After that Douglas and Elin are going to demonstrate some figures and edges and then Elin is going to skate the Canadian debut of the program she choreographed of the book.

Description: Lunch Poems at SFU is a unique, vibrant exchange of poetic ideas and cadence held the third Wednesday of every month, 12 to 1 pm, in the Teck Gallery at Simon Fraser University’s Vancouver Campus.

The raison d’être of Lunch Poems is to invite and welcome everyone to enjoy poetry in a relaxed and casual atmosphere: whether you are new to poetry, or have had a long romance with it. So bring your lunch, your knitting, your kids and your grandparents whatever, and whomever you wish (unfortunately, no pets). We invite you to join us lunching on words and feeding your soul. No fees or registration. Just bring your lunch, curiosity, open mind, and love of words.

Description: Shortlands Poetry Circle was established in 1911 by Miss Catherine Punch. Its aim was to promote the study and appreciation of poetry, and it has been going strong and remained true to that aim ever since.

The Poetry Appreciation Group meets on alternate Tuesdays at 2:30pm to share poems on programmed themes, with tea and biscuits and chat after meetings. On this occasion, the group will share and discuss poems by Yevgeny Yevtushenko and Wislawa Szymborska.
