Description: The Robert Graves Prize is launched this year as an exciting new collaboration between the Roehampton Poetry Centre and Wimbledon BookFest. It is named for one of the major figures of twentieth century poetry and encourages entries from all around the world. The Prize will be given for the best single poem submitted: multiple entries are encouraged but will be judged separately. The judges are poet Fiona Sampson and literary agent Peter Straus.

Description: The Malahat Review, Canada’s premier literary magazine, invites entries from Canadian, American, and overseas authors for their annual Open Season Awards. An exciting spring showcase of literary excellence, Open Season bestows a prize of $1500 in each of three marquee categories: poetry, short fiction, and creative nonfiction. Entrants can submit as many times as they like. This year’s judges are Evelyn Lau (poetry), Carleigh Baker (fiction), and Betsy Warland (creative nonfiction).

Title: The Moth Poetry Prize 2017 submission deadline

Description: The publishers of The Moth, Rebecca O’Connor and Will Govan, are delighted to introduce the newly named The Moth Poetry Prize (formerly the Ballymaloe International Poetry Prize). Now in its seventh year, it continues to offer one of the most lucrative awards in the world for a single unpublished poem.

The Moth Poetry Prize is open to anyone (over 16), as long as the poem is previously unpublished, and each year it attracts thousands of entries from new and established poets from over 50 countries worldwide.

This year’s judge is Daljit Nagra. Nagra was the first poet to win the Forward Prize for both his first collection of poetry and its title poem. He recently published his third collection of poetry with Faber, British Museum, and teaches poetry at Brunel University London and is Poet in Residence for BBC Radio 4.

Eden Mills Writers’ Festival

Title: Eden Mills Writers’ Festival

Description: The Eden Mills Writers’ Festival, founded in 1989 by Governor General Award winner Leon Rooke, has been hosting a literary picnic on the idyllic banks of the Eramosa River for over 25 years. The Festival is a nationally acclaimed literary event, treasured by book lovers and authors, and widely respected by Canada’s literary community.

Over the years, the Festival has taken place in different Eden Mills venues and was located once at the Bookshelf in Guelph. For the last few years, it has taken place in three beautiful open-air sites on the banks of the Eramosa river. In addition to the main venues, there is an established and extremely well-liked Children’s Site (Jenny’s Place) that runs continuously throughout the afternoon. There are also Fringe and Young Adult readings. Announcements of the winners of the Festival’s two annual literary competitions are also made.

Poets reading at Eden Mills this year include Griffin Poetry Prize winner Jordan Abel, Lorna Crozier and Gregory Scofield.
