Description: The Print Room officially opened in September 2010 in a converted graphic design studio and printing warehouse on Hereford Road. So far, they have presented six seasons of work comprising theatre, dance, concerts, art exhibitions and a variety of multidisciplinary collaborations. Now in its seventh year, and in new home The Coronet in the centre of Notting Hill, The Print Room hopes to continue its mission: to stage exciting undiscovered pieces by great writers, and to provide an opportunity for emerging and talented artists from all fields.

This event features readings by 2012 Griffin Poetry Prize winner David Harsent and Griffin trustee Jo Shapcott.

Title: The Pacific Spirit Poetry Prize submission deadline

Description: PRISM has a total of three recurring contests: our annual Creative Non-Fiction competition, The Pacific Spirit Poetry Prize, and The Jacob Zilber Prize for Short Fiction. Each contest is open to all writers, international and Canadian. Each entry includes a one-year subscription or subscription extension for PRISM international, beginning with the contest issue.

All 1st prize winners will be published in PRISM, and runners-up will be published at the discretion of the editors. All other entries will be considered for publication as regular submissions (for the possibility of publication in other issues of PRISM).

The judge of this year’s Pacific Spirit Poetry Prize is Aisha Sasha John.

Title: Al Purdy Tribute Anthology submission deadline

Description: To mark the centenary of the birth of famed Canadian poet Al Purdy, his long-time publisher is calling for submissions for a 2018 anthology of poems written in tribute to the author. BC-based Harbour Publishing will issue the tribute poetry anthology in fall 2018. Previously published and new poems written in Purdy’s honour are both eligible for consideration. Up to three poems per poet may be submitted. The deadline for submissions is Purdy’s 99th birthday, December 30, 2017.
