TORONTO – June 13, 2013 – Like a Straw Bird It Follows Me, and Other Poems, translated from the Arabic by Fady Joudah, written by Ghassan Zaqtan and What’s the Score? by David W. McFadden are the International and Canadian winners of the 2013 annual Griffin Poetry Prize. They each received C$65,000 in prize money.

TORONTO – April 9, 2013 – Scott Griffin, founder of The Griffin Trust For Excellence In Poetry and David Young, trustee, announced the International and Canadian shortlist for this year’s prize. Judges Suzanne Buffam (Canada), Mark Doty (USA) and Wang Ping (China) each read 509 books of poetry, from 40 countries, including 15 translations.

TORONTO – June 7, 2012 – David Harsent’s Night and Ken Babstock’s Methodist Hatchet are the International and Canadian winners of the 2012 annual Griffin Poetry Prize. They each received C$65,000 in prize money.
TORONTO – June 6, 2012 – Seamus Heaney, winner of the 1995 Nobel Prize in Literature ‘for works of lyrical beauty and ethical depth’, was honoured with The Griffin Trust For Excellence In Poetry’s 2012 Lifetime Recognition Award at this evening’s Griffin Poetry Prize Shortlist Readings event. Trustee Robin Robertson paid tribute to Seamus Heaney and presented him with his award. The announcement was met with great enthusiasm and applause from the house.
